Wheat...The general early-week retreat across the futures complex was
reflected in west coast cash wheat bids, with all three classes of wheat
down 10 to 30 cents per bushel from a week ago. White wheat bids also saw
declines, but the nearby basis strengthened another dime week-on-week as
exporters work to cover recent export demand. Pacific Northwest weather
is expected to return to more seasonal conditions later this week, after
posting record warm temperatures over the past week.
Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed wheat shipments improved
on last week's pace, coming in at nearly 18 million bushels to put year-
to-date loadings at 519 million bushels and 22% ahead of a year ago. Top
shipper was hard red spring with 5.6 million bushels, followed by white
wheat with 4.6 million and hard red winter with 3.5 million. West coast
exporters shipped a total of 10.6 million bushels of wheat, going mostly
to The Philippines, along with 19 million bushels of corn.
