DTN COMMENTS: Cattle feeding country is rather slow to start this
morning. So far, no bids have been renewed, but packer inquiry should
improve as the day progresses. Yesterday a light to moderate trade was
reported in the North with dressed deals at mostly $360, $2 higher than
the previous week's weighted average, basis Nebraska, while Southern live
business was light at $232, $4 lower than last week's weighted averages.
We should need to see more transactions today and/or tomorrow, especially
in the South, where asking prices are around $238-plus. Beef cutouts are
expected to be mixed with light to moderate box movement.
NOTE: Feedlots are encouraged to call DTN with any cattle sales, at
1-402-461-3561. All sales will be listed anonymously and organized by
state. All live sales are FOB and set for 1-9-day delivery. A weekly
summary from this data will be posted on the Weekly Cattle Sales Reported
to DTN page and will be left up for the entire week for reference
purposes.
